keel furniture

about

Keel Furniture sells the chairs from my book, The Hundred-Year Chair, with their parts and their drawings.

Every drawing on this site is generated by the code that cuts the chair. The side elevation on each product page comes from the same parameters the saw and the drill use, and it is printed at the scale of the photograph beside it, so you can check one against the other.

The company is small and spread out. I design in Park City and Philadelphia. The keels are made in Ho Chi Minh City and the aluminum brackets in Dongguan. MakerStock cuts the panels and packs the chairs in Salt Lake City, and ships from Salt Lake City and Old Forge.

Who made it

Each Keel Panel product carries four lines that say who made it and where, the same on the page and on the carton label. A factory's name goes into those lines once the factory agrees to be named.

The drawings

The drawings are free, under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. If you would rather build the chair, buy the brackets or the keels alone, or buy nothing.

Prices

A list price is the same here as everywhere else Keel is sold. The only discount is the trade program.

The design argument, the derivations and the history of each chair are at hundredyearchair.com.
